Alcoholism - it is a severe form of alcohol abuse.it has 3 forms Mild, Moderate & Severe.it affects all the body parts for example-Brain, Eyes, Heart, Esophagus, Stomach, Small intestine, Liver, Pancreas.

How the body parts are affected by Alcohol?

Chronic Abuse of alcohol can lead to severe mental illness & Vitamin deficiency. One of the most common illness is Wernikes Encephalopathy or Wernikes-korsakoff  syndrome.

This is Vitamin B1 or thiamine deficiency which leads to impaired vision, Memory changes & lack involuntary movements of muscles.

Chronic alcoholism can affect eyes as well, it decreases absorption of Vitamin B1 which leads to Paralysis of the eye muscle & further complications like Dry eyes, Irregular heartbeat sometimes it causes sudden blindness, Retinal damage.

The heart is one the most common organ affected by chronic alcoholism.it increases blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, increase in cholesterol in the blood and size of heart which leads to angina, coronary heart diseases & myocardial infarction.

Alcoholism and Liver diseases-Alcoholic liver diseases are Fatty liver, Alcoholic Hepatitis, Alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis.

Most common symptoms in alcholic liver Diseases are Nausea, Vommiting, Weight loss, Decrease appetite, Increase in liver size & abdominal Tenderness.

In Alcoholic Hepatitis- it is caused by long term alcohol abuse.



It is an inflammatory condition.

The liver is the largest organ in the body which removes toxins from the blood, in alcoholic hepatitis, it becomes fatty and inflamed.most common symptoms are yellow eyes, Yellow skin & nails which leads to Ascites that is liquid buildup in the abdomen. Most common complications are fever, Confusion, Ascites, Bleeding from Esophagus.

Alcohol directly goes to our bloodstream. Alcohol causes permanent damage to Pancrease. Chronic Pancreatitis is the result of long term alcohol abuse.

Alcoholism can affect Kidneys as well. alcohol is diuretic in nature.it increases urine production, which leads to dehydration.it doesn't absorb or use minerals like sodium, potassium, chlorine ions which leads to electrolyte imbalance. Excessive alcohol abuse can lead to kidney failure.

One of the most common complications of alcoholism is cancer. esophageal cancer, liver cancer & colorectal cancer.

Alcoholism can lead to some serious diseases like Tuberculosis & Pneumonia.

Drinking Too much alcohol every day or occasionally in heavy quantity can lead to major major complications in our day to day life.
